Scanning Tunneling Microscopy as a Single Majorana Detector of Kitaev’s Chiral Spin Liquid
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a local detection scheme for the Majorana zero mode (MZM) carried by vison in Kitaev's chiral spin liquid (CSL) using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The STM introduces single into system through hole-charge injection and interacts with MZM to form stable composite object. derive exact analytical expression of single-hole Green's function Mott insulating limit model, show that differential conductance has split peaks, as consequence resonant vison-hole composite. peak splitting turns out comparable gap CSL, well within reach experimental observation.

4 Spin-polarized Scanning Tunneling Microscopy
We give an introduction to spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy (SpSTM), a magnetic imaging technique with nanometer lateral resolution. Sp-STM allows to record constant current images which represent the electron density near the sample surface and simultaneously the spin polarization of the electron density which is related to the magnetic moment. It is shown how magnetic and topograp...

متن کاملInvestigation of non-collinear spin states with scanning tunneling microscopy.
Most ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic substances show a simple collinear arrangement of the local spins. Under certain circumstances, however, the spin configuration is non-collinear. Scanning tunneling microscopy with its potential atomic resolution is an ideal tool for investigating these complex spin structures. Non-collinearity can be due to topological frustration of the exchange intera...
متن کاملScanning Tunneling Microscopy Studies of Phase Transitions in Liquid Crystals
The phase transitions of two different liquid crystal materials adsorbed on graphite were studied using scanning tunneling microscopy. From the dimensions, the periodicity and the symmetry of the observed structures at different temperatures, a strong relationship between the bulk phases and the adsorbed monolayer phases was found. In addition, this study shows that the transition temperatures ...
